Chance was last seen on November 29th, 2024, in Springfield, Missouri, after attending a job interview on Commercial Street. The day before, he had spent Thanksgiving (November 28th) with his family — a gathering filled with laughter, warmth, and the usual holiday chatter. No one could have imagined that it would be the last time they would see him.

Now, nearly a year later, his loved ones are still waiting — for answers, for leads, for any sign of Chance.

The days following Chance’s disappearance brought no solid leads and few clues. The uncertainty has left his family desperate for information — for anything that could explain what happened after that job interview.

A Little About Chance Cahill Henry

Chance Cahill Henry’s life is one marked by courage, compassion, and quiet strength.

He grew up in Bolivar, Missouri, where he attended Bolivar High School. At just 16 years old, he joined the Polk County Volunteer Fire Department, dedicating himself to protecting others long before most teenagers even knew what they wanted to do with their lives. His passion for helping others was clear from the start.

He continued his training and education with dreams of a lifelong career in service. Tragically, his path was forever altered when he was injured in a fire, an event that left lasting physical and emotional scars. Despite the setback, Chance refused to give up. He remained the same kind-hearted soul his loved ones had always known — one who was quick to offer help, even when he was the one in need.

Those close to Chance describe him as someone who often did without so others could have. He was selfless and thoughtful, someone who would give the shirt off his back without hesitation. He was also deeply devoted to his family, particularly his mother. He made a point to call or message her every week, no matter where life had taken him.

That steady rhythm of communication makes his disappearance all the more concerning. For nearly a year now, his mother hasn’t heard from him — no calls, no messages, no trace. The silence has been devastating.

Chance has strong ties to Bolivar, Springfield, and Rogersville, Missouri, and his family continues to search these areas and beyond in hopes of finding him.

UPDATED: We now know that Chance also has ties to Taney County (Forsyth and Branson areas).

Circumstances Leading Up to His Disappearance

The months leading up to Chance’s disappearance were filled with hardship and danger.

In October 2024, just one month before he went missing, Chance was assaulted and beaten with a tire iron. The attack was brutal, leaving him with serious injuries that required hospitalization. Doctors urged him to undergo surgery on his stomach, but out of fear that those who assaulted him might track him down, he left the hospital against medical advice.

That decision — one made in fear and survival mode — may have left him in fragile health.

Then, only a week before he disappeared, Chance suffered yet another devastating blow. Everything he owned — the few possessions he had managed to hold onto — was stolen from a homeless camp where he had been staying. For someone already struggling to rebuild his life, losing those items meant losing the little sense of security he had left.

Despite these unimaginable setbacks, Chance was determined to move forward. He had managed to secure a job interview on November 29th — the day after Thanksgiving — on Commercial Street in Springfield. He attended that interview, and that was the last confirmed sighting of him.

No one knows what happened after that.

Areas Chance Was Known to Frequent

Before his disappearance, Chance spent time in a few areas within Springfield where he sometimes stayed or sought temporary shelter. He was known to stay behind the Fast and Friendly gas station located at 2766 North Kansas Expressway in Springfield, Missouri, and he was also occasionally seen around the Cinderella and Cherry Street area off Glenstone Avenue.

If you frequent these neighborhoods, live nearby, or know someone who does, please take a moment to think back. Did you see anyone who matches Chance’s description in late November 2024 or in the weeks that followed? Did someone new suddenly appear in those areas and then vanish again? Even something that seems small — a brief encounter, an overheard name, a sighting of someone who looked like him — could be the piece of information that finally brings Chance home.

Chance’s Personality and Struggles

While Chance is remembered for his big heart and giving nature, he was also facing mental health challenges in the months before he went missing. Coupled with physical pain, trauma from the assault, and the uncertainty of homelessness, it’s believed these struggles made his situation even more difficult.

But Chance’s story is not one of defeat. He was resilient. He pushed through each hardship with quiet courage, determined to find stability and purpose again. Those who love him remember his gentle humor, his thoughtful nature, and his unwavering compassion.

He was the kind of man who noticed the needs of others before his own — someone who would share his last meal, offer a listening ear, or step in to help without hesitation. Chance’s kindness was not conditional; it was simply who he was.

The Heartbreak of Not Knowing

For Chance’s family, every day without answers is another day of heartbreak. They replay the last time they saw him — the Thanksgiving smiles, the hugs before he left — wondering what happened afterward.

His mother still checks her phone, hoping for a missed call or a message that somehow slipped through. She drives the roads he used to walk, looks for signs, and prays that someone, somewhere, knows something.

It’s been almost a year now, and the silence has only grown louder. But through all the pain, there remains a glimmer of hope — that Chance is out there, that someone has seen him, that the next phone call will finally bring answers.

Chance is loved. He is missed. And he is not forgotten.
